Riding Through The “Storm”

It has been a long week! Its time to rest and enjoy the breeze of the evening. You brush off your favorite spot on the sofa, tuck the cushion in, get yourself a glass of lemonade, pick up a book to read and you make your steps to the beautiful respite all envisioned in your mind. Your body needs it, your mind is craving for it, and this is the moment to breathe.

As you sit in the sofa, the phone rings! Should you take the call? Can’t it wait until later?  You just need to rest. But the good conscience of duty and service to God and man get the better of you and you take the call.

Second by second into that call you feel the pressure and the weight of the matter at hand. You must act, you must think quickly and you begin to pray. Relaxing your body and mind, you begin to listen with expectancy, knowing that you have placed the call into the hands of a wonderful and caring Heavenly Father.

In that moment, peace, fulfillment and value rush into your soul. You are doing God’s great work, your mind is set on allowing God to use you to bring guidance, hope and peace to someone. You are no longer feeling burdened.

When it’s all done, you are weaker but satisfied, weary but empowered by the thought that God has done a good thing in you and for the needy. Late but never undone, a shorter time of rest becomes a greater blessing of inner rest, compensating any physical loss. This is how we ride through the storms, leaning on the Lord. He has never failed!

“PEACE I LEAVE WITH YOU; MY PEACE I GIVE TO YOU. I DO NOT GIVE TO YOU AS THE WORLD GIVES. DO NOT LET YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED AND DO NOT BE AFRAID…I HAVE TOLD YOU THESE THINGS SO THAT IN ME YOU MAY HAVE PEACE. IN THIS WORLD YOU WILL HAVE TROUBLE. BUT TAKE HEART! I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD.”

JOHN 14:27; 16:33
